Join Rabbis Elisa Goldberg and Nicole Auerbach for an information session about Kol Dodi, a 20-month program that will prepare participants to serve as spiritual directors. This session will be held from 7:30-8:30 PM ET on Zoom and the recording will be shared with registrants.

This August, we’re heading to the woods of West Cornwall, CT, for our third annual silent retreat designed specifically for folks under 40. This isn’t just a getaway; it’s a dedicated space to slow down, put down your phone, silence your notifications, and return to yourself.
November 15 – 19, 2026
This mostly silent, Jewish mindfulness meditation retreat will be at the serene Garrison Institute in Garrison, NY. Our retreat will be led by IJS faculty and other experienced, beloved instructors. Over five days, we will focus on deepening our practice through silent meditation enhanced with Jewish teachings, meditation instructions, mindful prayer, and yoga/embodied practice.

Being a Blessing (Naso 5786)
Parent-child relationships aren’t easy, and Friday afternoons can be tense. Teenage children can be moody (okay, so can the rest of us), and I imagine ours is not the only family in which we’ve sometimes been forced to decide whether to wait for a child who was having a hard time making it to the dinner table that week, or just proceed with dinner. In those cases, I have found that the laying of hands and the recitation of this bracha can work as a kind of solvent, melting some of the ice that can form.
