The power and importance of Jewish contemplative practice is even more important today, 20 years after the birth of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Over these years we have sought to connect head and heart, body and soul, through the practice of mindfulness meditation, the study of Hasidic texts, prayer that addresses each of us where we are and invites to enter even more deeply into the Mystery, and yoga as a form of embodied mindfulness that addresses Jewish spiritual experiences.
As we approach the festival of Hanukkah, we mark this opportunity to rededicate ourselves to the goals and ideals of the IJS. Join us to celebrate this significant birthday with other IJS alumni and friends on December 8, 2019. Through online video technology we will join together to engage in mindfulness meditation, to prepare our hearts to study. We will turn to the Hasidic and mystical traditions to bring even more light to our Hanukkah celebrations, and our own inner lives. We will raise it all through song.
You are invited to participate on your own, but we encourage you to join in a communal celebration in your local community. You can find a venue on our interactive map below. If there is no organized event close to you and you want others to share in the celebration with you, invite some friends and we will provide you with instructions how to make your gathering a success.
